I'm back with an exciting blog on "Major challenges BJP has in Telangana to overcome before the general elections"
Telangana politics is becoming like a thrilling IPL match where the three major political parties, including the ruling BRS party, pelting words at each other with their own strategies alongside changing strategies for reaching out to the public.
Though BJP has not performed well in the 2018 general elections, it has managed to secure 4 out of 17 MP seats with more than 19% vote share. There is no candidate in the BJP for which he/she secured less than the 50 thousand votes majority. Through BJP gaining strength in the state, be it with its karyakartas or youth support, it has to go a long way to fight with the ruling BRS government that has strong support from the urban population, which plays a crucial role in deciding the throne.
Challenges for BJP
1) Leadership fights - Unlike in other political parties, the BJP government only appoints RSS workers to the top leadership post. This is bringing major trouble to the party in Telangana. Though the current Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay is working outstanding in attracting people through his speeches, he lacks in converting them into votes. Bandi Sanjay is an RSS worker and was a BJP corporater in Karimnagar before becoming a Member of Parliament. He has no long experience in managing the party with the central leadership. He became the party president just after a year as MP. leaders like Etela Rajender and Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy are turning their heads with the un-satisfaction related to the party-state leadership and their offered posts.
The BJP party has no time left to address this issue.
2) No clear message
There is no clear-cut message BJP is giving to the public about their promises and action plan for the upcoming election. A lot of topic diversions are taking place in Telangana one by one where there is no place for the opposition parties to question the ruling government on a particular issue until it gets solved.
The state BJP has failed to campaign the central schemes in Telangana and their uses to the rural population. Though there is a language gap in between, the leadership has not even promoted their schemes by forecasting their government efforts. A lot of people still believe that the state government gave the Asara pension single-handedly. But the fact says that the central government also bears most of the part in it.
3) Central leadership
Though Amit Shah is vising Telangana regularly, he has not addressed public rallies that many times. The central government is not that much active in Telangana politics compared to other states like Karnataka and Gujarat.
When there is Anti-incumbency in the government, the vote share shifts to rivalry where people believe that the party can eliminate the corrupt government. But in the case of Telangana, we cannot see this happen to one party, i.e. BJP, as Congress is also a strong cadre party having deep roots from the Indira Gandhi period.
